COEP (College of Engineering, Pune offered record Rs. 30 Lakhs Salary Package.
A new record for the highest salary package offered during campus placements is about to be set at the College of Engineering Pune (CoEP) with six of its students being offered an annual salary of Rs 30 lakh by a Well Known company.
These students have already cleared Aptitude and Technical tests held by the company at CoEP last month. They will now fly abroad for the final interview scheduled for December 13, 2011.
Significantly, these six students, five of whom are pursuing mechanical engineering and one metallurgy, are slated to get lucrative job offers in the areas of their core knowledge and not necessarily Information Technology (IT) which is the general notion.
“Rs 16 lakh and Rs 10 lakh are the highest ever salary packages our students have got from an IT sector company and core company respectively. The annual package of Rs 30 lakh offered by the known company, thus, is the highest in the history of CoEP,” an assistant professor and placement officer at CoEP, told media on Tuesday.
“Besides a hefty pay package, the company will also offer different incentives to students if they remain with the company for a long time. This makes the offer by the company really unique,” he added.
It is noteworthy that campus placements data of CoEP during recent past is indicative of the fact that there has been a gradual rise in number of students getting placed in core engineering and manufacturing companies. On the contrary, there is a slight gradual decline in students placed in IT companies, marking a reversal of an earlier trend during which the IT industry stole the show.
